For our 1 year anniversary we decided to take a weekend trip to Cedar Key. We did a lot of fishing and a lot of eating. So, all together it was a great weekend.
When we arrived on Saturday we went straight out on the water. It was a beautiful day and the sea life was very active. We saw sharks, sting rays, dolphins, turtles, crabs, manatees, and of course a lot of fish (if you know how dorky I am, you can guess how excited I was about the sea life). We did some great fishing out in the shallow waters around the islands. Greg caught several trout, something that I was not very good at (I always wanted to set the hook like a bass, apparently they have very tender mouths and that doesn't work.) I did catch this big guy, he was a 40 pound black drum that took about 20 minutes to bring into the boat, but it was all worth it. We were able to eat the trout that Greg caught and they were great. Unfortunately the meat on the black drum was not good so we couldn't eat him.

Here is a view of Cedar Key from the water. They have great restaurants and fun shops right along the water. I think we managed to eat at 3 or 4 of them while we were there. We had some great seafood and I realized that I love scallops (especially the friend ones from Frog's Landing!) Frog's Landing was our favorite spot for the weekend. They have great live music and a great atmosphere to go with the yummy food.
Here we are on our anniversary night/ We went out to get some seafood and then came back to eat the top of our wedding cake and drink some champagne. The cake was actually better than I expected.
We were very impressed with Cedar Key. It was our first visit to the little island town and we loved it. The people were great and the place that we stayed was very nice. It was called Nature's Landing and it was on the marshy side of the island so it had a great view.
I will try to finish blogging about the rest of our summer and on into fall soon. I am getting very behind!!

LOVE IT! I love Cedar Key--it's not my FAVORITE spot on earth--but I do like it--especially the seafood!
