Our Wild and Crazy Year (Part 2)

I left you all in October on the last post. In October, I got to witness our female dog go into heat for the first time. It was a very interesting experience. One day we decided to keep Sassy outside and Dutch inside during the day. We came home to find the blinds torn to shreds, apparently Dutch really wanted to get out where Sassy was. After that they were kept together and no more torn up blinds. In the end, Sassy was pregnant and Dutch was happy.

As I said before, this was Greg's first season as the head varsity coach at Trinity Catholic High School (TC). The boys and the parents were not prepared for the change in coaching style and they had a lot of practices to get them acquainted. November was when they could start practicing and boy did they. It was also when we had our very first Thanksgiving at our house. Greg's family came over and my family came down from Atlanta (even Ben from Tallahassee) and we had a great time celebrating and being together. The food was pretty good too!!

December was a wild month...Greg's first game was scheduled in Gainesville on December 2. I got a call at school that afternoon that the puppies were being born. I rushed home, made sure all was well, took them to the vet (with help from Amanda!!), and then rushed to Gainesville to catch the second half of the game. It was a busy day. The puppies, all seven of them, were born healthy. However, the game didn't go as well. It was a rough transition year for TC basketball...but I see this year being much better. The boys and parents now realize that its Greg's way or the highway.

During all the puupy time and basketball season we managed to have our first Christmas. We celebrated Christmas day in Ocala and then I headed to Atlanta for a few days to visit my family, Greg stayed at home with the puppies.

Thanks mom for the coolers
Now that the puppies are growing and basketball season is in full swing, I become the puppy caretaker. Greg is always helpful when he is around, but basketball season is intense. I got really good at feeding them and changing out the paper in their kennel in the garage...yes in the garage (it was January and very cold outside). This month was all about basketball and puppies...those two things were our life.

Two of our sweet babies...I hope they are doing well

February was a hard month for us. Basketball season ended and it was definitely a rough season. I also found out that Marion county decided to let go 522 first and second year teachers due to the budget crisis. I was in my second year, so that included me, as well as seven other teachers at my school. However, it was only February so we had to finish out the year knowing that we wouldn't be back the next year. It was a very stressful time.

In April, two of our close friends got married. Travis and Cori had a beautiful wedding. Greg was a groomsman and I ended up helping Charon with the ceremony. The day was gorgeous and the setting was awesome! Congrats Travis and Cori!!

May was a crazy month at school. We had family Love Day, Kindergarten Graduation and the end of the year party to plan. We practiced a lot of songs and did a lot of crafts to give our families. I also worked on Memory Books for all seventeen students (THANK YOU Amanda for all of your help!). The memory books had pictures, writing samples and fun projects in them from the whole year. They were a lot of work, but the families LOVED them!

This takes us up to June and the end of the school year. This was a great time...right before school got out Marion County announced that they would hire almost all 522 teacher back for next year. That included me!!! I will still be at Shady Hill, but I will be the Intervention Specialist. I don't have a job description yet and may not until the school year starts, but I have a job...YAY!!
